Located in Honolulu at 251 Vineyard Street, the American Cancer Society Clarence T.C. Ching Hope Lodge Hawai'i is a home-away-from-home for adult cancer patients and their caregivers. Our 3-story, 20-room facility offers cancer patients a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment is in Honolulu. Hope Lodge Hawai'i provides a nurturing, home-like environment where guests can retreat to private rooms or connect with others who understand their struggle.
Hope Lodge Hawai'i is a place of respite with shared amenities including a kitchen for guests to prepare meals, dining room, living room, library, activity room, laundry facilities, and a meditation garden. Transportation to and from Daniel K. International Airport (Honolulu), treatment facilities, grocery store, and pharmacies is also provided.
Hope Lodge Hawai'i is one of 33 lodges throughout the nation, and the only one located in the State of Hawai'i. Since opening in November 2016, Hope Lodge Hawai'i has served 158 unique cancer patients, with 54% returning for at least a second stay. The average length of stay is 7 days, but many have stayed for several weeks or even months.
Hope Lodge Hawai'i has provided over 2,200 nights of free lodging since the end of November, saving patients approximately $335,000 in potential costs. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows cancer patients to focus on what matters -- getting well. Hope has a home at Hope Lodge Hawai'i.
The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge program provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers. More than just a roof over their heads, it's a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need. Each Hope Lodge community offers a supportive, homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening's activities, or unwind in their own private room. Patients staying at a Hope Lodge must be in active cancer treatment, and permanently reside more than 40 miles or one hour away from their cancer treatment center. Each patient must be accompanied by a caregiver.
